nicholas.purus@gmail.comReporting a blocked site
If Purus blocks a site you believe is legitimate, you can report it directly from within the app. When you land on a blocked page, tap Report it — this submits the URL for review. We go through every report and update our filters accordingly. There's no separate form or email needed; the in-app button is the fastest way to get a false positive resolved.
Frequently asked questions
Will Purus slow down my browsing?
Most of Purus's filtering happens instantly on your device, with no delay. The one exception is DNS-level filtering, which checks domains through an encrypted connection — this can add a small delay the first time you visit a new site, similar to a VPN, though it speeds up quickly as your device caches results. Overall, most users don't notice a meaningful difference in everyday browsing.
What if a legitimate site gets blocked?
It happens occasionally. Tap 'Report it' on the blocked page and we review it quickly. False positive reports go directly to our block list team and the site is usually cleared in the next filter update.
Can my child turn off the filtering?
No — filtering isn't a setting you can switch off. Keyword scanning, URL inspection, cosmetic filtering, safe search enforcement, YouTube Restricted Mode, and platform-specific filtering all run automatically on every request, with no toggle for any of them anywhere in the app. The one exception is DNS-level protection: it's opt-in, and once enabled it can still be removed through iOS's own Settings → VPN & Device Management — that's standard iOS behavior for any DNS configuration profile, not something specific to Purus.
Does Purus require a subscription?
No subscription — Purus is a one-time download with no account required. Eight filtering layers, safe search locked, and ad blocking all included. We're building a parent dashboard with additional controls and reporting for families who want more visibility. That will be a separate tier when it launches.
